About a year ago I signed up for Sunrocket VOIP phone service. I paid their $199 fee for a year of service which is very affordable. They even threw in a free two-extension cordless phone. After a year of using their service I have been able to thoroughly test it. The things I like about the service are the low price and tons of included features (i.e. call waiting, caller id, 3 way, voicemail, etc.). There are some downsides to the service. I have a very high-speed internet connection (around 6MB) but yet the service still acts up quite often. I can usually hear people great but the other party tells me the quality is low. So that can be frustrating when you are talking to someone and they can’t hear you. Another annoying thing with the service is the voicemail. I get a lot of calls and my voicemail box is constantly filling up. I have my voicemails delivered to my email, which is great, but they accumulate in my Sunrocket account and fill up my voicemail box. It only holds about 20 messages and if I do not login to delete them the voicemail stops working. I have called them to see if there is a way to have messages just delivered to my email and not saved in my account, but they say that is not possible.
I am still debating on whether to keep the service or not. It is great when it works correctly but very frustrating when it does not work.

Update >> Just days after posting this blog entry, Sunrocket closed its doors. They said they were unable to make any money at this and decided to close their doors. As a result I had to quickly find an alternative. After doing some research I decided to go with Vonage and so far I am very happy with the call quality.
